Maui United Way Kahua Grants Initiative
Powered by the SR Partners team, Maui United Way’s Kahua Grants Initiative provides capacity-building support to emerging and grassroots nonprofits on Maui. Designed to strengthen the organizational foundation of participating groups, the program offers funding, technical assistance, and peer learning opportunities to help nonprofits expand their impact and build long-term sustainability in service to the community.
Kahua Grants assistance and Capacity Building may include:
Identifying grant opportunities
Incorporating a mix of standard and creative, innovative approaches to secure funding
Providing coaching and advisory support to develop compelling funding ideas
Providing grant proposal writing
Assisting with grant budget development
Conducting section-by-section responsiveness review of application
Copy edit application for grammar, typos, common voice, consistency, clarity, etc.
Providing guidance on the proposal submission process
Up to 15 nonprofits will be accepted. Once accepted, nonprofits who participate will be expected to will be fully engaged in this process – responsive to requests and communications, ensuring participation at every scheduled meeting.

Acceptance emails will be sent out July 1st. Cohort meetings begin Monday, July 7th.
